Fulbright U.S. Student Program

Award Description:
The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is the largest U.S. exchange program offering opportunities for students and young professionals to undertake international graduate study, advanced research, university teaching, and primary and secondary school teaching worldwide. The program currently awards approximately 2,200 grants annually in all fields of study, and operates in more than 140 countries. The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides grants for individually designed study/research projects and for English Teaching Assistant Programs, among other opportunities.
Award Benefits:
For all awards Fulbright typically covers the cost of round-trip transportation to the host country, as well as housing and living expenses.
Basic Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicants must be citizens or nationals of the United States of America at the time of the application deadline. Permanent residents are not eligible. Please review the Award Description in relation to the eligibility of dual citizens.
- Applicants must have a conferred bachelor's degree or equivalent before the start of the grant period.

Deadline(s):
- To receive university endorsement, you must submit the Intent to Apply Form by May 31, by 11:59 pm EST and submit drafts of your Statement of Grant Purpose and the Personal Statement by August 8, at 11:59 pm EST.
- The GW nomination deadline is August 8, by 11:59 pm EST.
- If you are endorsed, you have the opportunity to revise your application based on endorsement committee feedback.
*Special Note: If you miss the GW nomination deadline, it is still appropriate for you to affiliate yourself with George Washington University instead of applying as an At-Large applicant.
