Fellowship Advising
The Office of Graduate Student Assistantships and Fellowships (OGSAF) offers personalized advising services for the NSEP Boren Fellowship, Fulbright U.S. Student Program, and the Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Award. Graduate students who are interested in applying for these fellowships are encouraged to attend our information sessions or set appointments for one-on-one advising.

- NSEP Boren Fellowship

Award Amount: up to $30,000
The National Security Education Program Boren Fellowship is for graduate students interested in acquiring or strengthening skills in languages critical to US National Security, and is intended for those who are willing to make a commitment to federal service. Graduate Fellows are able to choose their own program or select one of four Flagship Programs. In addition to language learning, Graduate Fellows are encouraged to conduct research, take additional academic courses, and/or pursue internships. There is also an opportunity to be funded for domestic language programs.

The Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Award (DDRA) funds PhD candidates who are planning to conduct dissertation research abroad. DDRA's priorities are research projects that focus on certain geographic areas, less commonly taught languages, and certain academic fields.

During their grants, Fulbrighters will meet, work, live with and learn from the people of the host country, sharing daily experiences. The program facilitates cultural exchange through direct interaction on an individual basis in the classroom, field, home, and in routine tasks, allowing the grantee to gain an appreciation of others’ viewpoints and beliefs, the way they do things, and the way they think.
