Loughran Graduate Fellowship

The Loughran Fellowship is a stackable* tuition award (fees excluded and amounts vary up to $10,000 per year, depending on need, part-time or full-time study and availability of funds) available to outstanding students from the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. Awards do not cover Summer Sessions.

Eligibility Requirements

  • GWU students (full or part-time study) who are currently enrolled in or accepted to a graduate program in the School of Business (Foggy Bottom campus only, students in off-campus Executive Education or Virginia Campus programs are not eligible) or in the Law School at GW.
  • Applicants must have a minimum 3.5 GPA at the most recent level of study.
  • Interested applicants must also be taking at least 4.5 credits a semester.
  • Residence in DC, MD, or Northern VA must have been established at least 1 year prior to commencement of graduate studies or the applicant or applicant's current spouse must be an active duty member of the U.S. military stationed in DC, MD, or Northern VA.
  • Demonstrate financial need*

*In order to be awarded a Loughran Graduate Fellowship, a student must have met the Federal Definition of need. The Federal definition of need is established by submitting a FAFSA to the Federal Processor and having the results sent to GW's Office of Student Financial Assistance. If you have applied for graduate loans in the past and qualified for the Subsidized Federal Stafford Loan, you might be eligible for consideration for a Loughran Fellowship.

Applications cannot be considered until the FAFSA has been submitted and results returned to the University.
