The Office of Graduate Student Assistantships and Fellowships (OGSAF) is thrilled to announce that three GW graduate students have been awarded Boren Fellowships for the 2024-2025 academic year! GW was named a top-performing institution for Boren Fellows.
Boren Fellowships are funded by the National Security Education Program (NSEP), which focuses on geographic areas, languages, and fields of study deemed critical to U.S. national security. Boren Fellows spend between 3-12 months aboard studying the local language and/or completing a research project. Boren Fellows represent a variety of academic and professional disciplines, but all are interested in studying less commonly taught languages, including but not limited to Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Swahili.
All GW graduate students interested in applying for a Boren Fellowship can sign up for a personalized advising appointment to receive feedback on their application materials and ensure they have the most competitive application possible. The deadline for the 2025-2026 Boren Fellowship is January 22, 2025 and the deadline to participate in GW’s campus review process is December 1, 2024.
