The Office of Graduate Student Assistantships and Fellowships (OGSAF) is thrilled to announce that eight GW graduate students have been awarded Boren Fellowships for the 2023-2024 academic year. George Washington University has been named a "Top-Performing Institution" with the second highest number of Boren Fellowship awardees in the country.
Boren Fellowships are funded by the National Security Education Program (NSEP), which focuses on geographic areas, languages, and fields of study deemed critical to U.S. national security. Boren Fellows spend between 3-12 months aboard studying the local language and/or completing a research project. Boren Fellows represent a variety of academic and professional disciplines, but all are interested in studying less commonly taught languages, including but not limited to Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Swahili.
All GW graduate students interested in applying for a Boren Fellowship can sign up for a personalized advising appointment to receive feedback on their application materials and ensure they have the most competitive application possible.
Congratulations to our 2023-2024 Boren Fellows!
